PRESS RELEASE

In the run-up to International Anti-Corruption Day, observed each year on 9 December, the Monegasque authorities held a working session to advance the efforts being made to implement the recommendations set out in the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) Evaluation Report, adopted on 21 June 2024 as part of the Fifth Evaluation Round, which reviewed top executive functions and law enforcement agencies.

The GRECO recommendations, which cover a wide range of themes, aim to strengthen legislative and institutional anti-corruption frameworks, and to promote transparency and integrity in public administration.

The strategic meeting was chaired by H.E. the Minister of State, Didier Guillaume, and attended by all government ministers, the Secretary of Justice, an advisor from H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince’s cabinet, the Secretary-General of the Government, the Chief of Staff to the Minister of State and representatives from the General Inspectorate of the Civil Service and the Department of Legal Affairs. The focus was on reviewing the guidelines and concrete measures adapted to the specific features of the Principality.

During the meeting, a decision was taken to formally establish a high-level Steering Committee. This Committee will oversee a national anti-corruption strategy, which will be accompanied by an action plan focused on the Fifth Evaluation Round, to ensure gradual implementation from 2025, concluding in 2028.

This proactive approach demonstrates the ongoing commitment of the Principality of Monaco to comply with its international obligations and position itself as an exemplary player in the effort to tackle corruption.

The Principality is thus reaffirming its commitment to the principles of ethics, transparency and good governance.
