For the granting of a permanent taxi licence, the application period will run from 17 October 2025 to Monday 3 November 2025 inclusive (final deadline).
For the granting of a 2026 seasonal taxi licence, the application period will run from 17 October 2025 to Monday 3 November 2025 inclusive, (final deadline).
The Government is launching a call for applications for the granting of authorisations to operate taxis on a permanent or seasonal basis. Priority will be given based on a points system established by ministerial decree.
Understanding the process
You may apply for an authorisation only within the framework of a call for applications for:
- Operation of a taxi on a permanent basis
- Operation of a seasonal taxi
Criteria for granting an administrative authorisation to operate a taxi on a permanent basis
Eligibility requirements:
- Be of Monegasque nationality
- Hold the professional licence examination certificate
- Provide the required professional guarantees
- Have worked as a seasonal taxi driver, replacement taxi driver, chauffeur-driven vehicle driver, or private chauffeur for a minimum of six consecutive months on a full-time basis during the year preceding the application, unless a duly justified compelling reason applies. In such cases, the reference year will be the previous one
Interested applicants must submit an application file for an administrative authorisation to operate a taxi on a permanent basis.
Candidates are also encouraged to operate environmentally friendly vehicles, in line with the Principality of Monaco’s sustainable development policy, and meeting the technical requirements set out in Article 14 of Sovereign Ordinance No. 1.720 of 04 July 2008 on the regulation of taxis, chauffeur-driven vehicles, official city vehicles and motorcycles on request, amended.
Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.
Only complete applications will be processed.
Applicants who meet the required professional guarantees will also be subject to an oral assessment of their English and Italian language proficiency and will be invited to an interview to assess their motivation.
Applicants who fail to attend the language tests without a duly justified compelling reason will be penalised. Failure to attend the interview without a duly justified compelling reason will result in disqualification.
Criteria for granting an administrative authorisation to operate a seasonal taxi
Eligibility requirements:
- Hold the professional licence examination certificate
- Provide the required professional guarantees
Exclusion criteria:
- Having previously operated as a "Taxi de Monaco" licence holder (except for Monegasque nationals)
- Holding a taxi licence abroad under a lease-management arrangement
Interested applicants must submit an application file for an administrative authorisation to operate a seasonal taxi.
Candidates are also reminded of their obligation to operate a vehicle meeting the technical specifications set out in Article 38-9 of Sovereign Ordinance No. 1.720 of 04 July 2008 on the regulation of taxis, chauffeur-driven vehicles, official city vehicles and motorcycles on request, as amended.

Applicants whose files are deemed complete and admissible, and who meet the required professional guarantees, will also be subject to an oral assessment of their English and Italian language proficiency and will be invited to a motivation interview.

Please note that the call for applications for the granting of authorisations to operate a taxi on a permanent basis is open exclusively to Monegasque nationals.
For a first-time application or in the event of a change in your administrative situation, the following documents must be included with your application file:
- The duly completed information form, available for download in the previous step (formulating the request)
- A Sworn Declaration, based on the template available for download in the previous step (formulating the request)
- A valid Monaco national identity card or national passport
- A cover letter specifying the make and model of the vehicle proposed for operation
- An original extract from the criminal record dated of less than 3 months
- A medical certificate of fitness to drive land vehicles, dated no earlier than the current call for applications, available below:
- A curriculum vitae accompanied by a passport photo
- A copy of the diplomas obtained (if applicable), along with employment certificates (for chauffeur-driven vehicle or private chauffeur activities) or authorisations to operate (for seasonal or replacement taxi activities)
- A copy of the family record booklet, if applicable (copy of the original)
- A copy of your Monegasque driving licence
- A copy of the certificate of successful completion of the professional licence examination
If this is not your first application, or if no changes have occurred in your administrative situation, please submit only the following documents with your application file:
- The duly completed information form, available for download in the previous step (formulating the request)
- A Sworn Declaration, based on the template available for download in the previous step (formulating the request)
- A valid Monaco national identity card or national passport
- A cover letter specifying the make and model of the vehicle proposed for operation

- A full driving licence record from the issuing country confirming that the right to drive has not been suspended or withdrawn, dated of less than 3 months (except if you have a Monegasque driving licence)
- A certificate of registration with the Employment Office dated of less than 3 months, if applicable
- A curriculum vitae accompanied by a passport photo
- A copy of diplomas obtained and employment certificates (for passenger transport, tourism-related or public service activities), or authorisations to operate (for seasonal or replacement taxi activities), if applicable
- A copy of the family record booklet or a civil partnership agreement, if applicable (copy of the original)
- A copy of your driving licence (certified true copy if not a Monegasque licence)
- A copy of the certificate of successful completion of the professional licence examination
If this is not your first application, or if no changes have occurred in your administrative situation, please submit only the following documents with your application file:
- The duly completed information form, available for download in the previous step (formulating the request)
- A Sworn Declaration, based on the template available for download in the previous step (formulating the request)
- A valid Monaco national identity card or national passport
- A cover letter specifying the make and model of the vehicle proposed for operation

- A medical certificate of fitness to drive land vehicles, dated no earlier than the current call for applications, available below:
- A full driving licence record from the issuing country confirming that the right to drive has not been suspended or withdrawn, dated of less than 3 months (except if you have a Monegasque driving licence
- A certificate of registration with the Employment Office dated of less than 3 months, if applicable
