This fund offers support to Monegasque companies for innovative technological projects (involving real technological advances or the introduction of an innovative product to the market), through repayable loans or subsidies.
Understanding the process
As part of its active pro-innovation policy, the Principality of Monaco aims to encourage high-potential, high-technology projects. The fund supports businesses based in Monaco that are developing innovative initiatives, whether through genuine technological advances or by bringing new products or services to market.
Its aim is to help projects reach the market, create value and drive local economic growth.
There are two types of support available through the Monaco Innovation Fund:
- Innovation Feasibility Support
- Innovation Development Support
A preliminary meeting is required to confirm eligibility.
Applications are assessed on the basis of:
- A business plan
- Three-year operating forecasts for the project
This scheme aims to incentivise companies to commit to innovation by providing financial help with the costs of initial project R&D, including the following:
- Feasibility studies
- Acquiring the skills needed to validate the project’s component parts
Expenditure financed:
- Payroll costs
- Market research
- Reviews of existing research and technology
- Literature and background research
- Design and development studies
- Instrumentation and equipment
- Industrial property
- Costs of finding partners
- And so on
Conditions:
- The support provided may cover up to 50% of eligible expenditure
With a maximum grant of €50.000.00
This support is for businesses developing technologically innovative products, processes or services, and supports R&D phases that aim to deliver innovative solutions with clear potential for commercialisation.
Eligible expenditure:
- Project design and scoping
- Technical and commercial feasibility
- In-house and external development costs
- Innovation consulting costs
- Costs of building prototypes
- Patent and trademark filing expenses
- Pre-production
- And so on
Conditions:
- Interest-free loan of up to 50% of eligible expenditure
- Repayment may be deferred for several years
