How to apply for a business start-up grant

This scheme helps first-time entrepreneurs in Monaco by covering some of the fixed costs of starting a business. 

Support is granted for one year, with the possibility of renewal for up to two more years (i.e. a maximum of three years in total). 

In exceptional cases, social security contributions may be covered for a fourth year. This requires the approval of the Economic Commission and is only available to businesses that have not yet achieved the financial stability needed to meet their operating costs without help after the first three years.

During their first year in business, grant recipients are also entitled to free assistance from a member of the Ordre des Experts-Comptables de Monaco (the Association of Chartered Accountants).

Eligible expenditure: 

• Class 1 social security contributions (CAMTI/CARTI)
• Business rent, based on the following ceilings:
  • 1st year: €900/month
  • 2nd year: €600/month
  • 3rd year: €450/month

The following eligibility conditions apply:

• You must be a Monegasque, the spouse of a Monegasque national, or in a civil partnership or other legally recognised form of union with a Monegasque national
• You must be an adult aged under 65
• You must not previously have worked in Monaco on a self-employed basis
• The business must be your only source of income

You must supply the following documents:

• A letter addressed to the Minister of State
• A copy of the Monegasque declaration (or authorisation) for the activity
• A copy of an application to join the CAMTI – CARTI insurance schemes
• A CV
• A copy of the lease (if you are renting business premises)
• Bank account details (if you are renting business premises)
• A declaration of non-receipt of revenue duly completed and signed, to be collected from the Business Development Agency​ or downloaded here:
