General Secretariat of the Government

Role

The General Secretariat of the Government (SGG) is responsible for:

  • Providing a secretariat to the Council of Government and following up on its decisions
  • Preparing, with assistance from the relevant offices, ministerial decrees and all decisions issued by the Minister of State, and ensuring that they are followed up
  • Making preparations for the Minister of State to take office
  • Coordinating the work of the various ministries within the Prince’s Government where this involves inter-ministerial issues
  • Leading and coordinating the work of departments, offices and other entities under the direct authority of the Minister of State, or those of an inter-ministerial nature
  • Ensuring administrative follow-up of correspondence addressed to the Minister of State
  • Developing and monitoring administrative procedures and practices to improve the quality of public service
  • Maintaining the relationships of the Minister of State and the Prince’s Government with the Department of Justice, assemblies and constitutional bodies, and independent administrative authorities
  • Issuing passports and other travel documents
  • Providing administrative support to the process of nominating individuals for honours
  • Performing the legalisation of documents and certified true copies
  • Publishing and disseminating official texts, and managing the Journal de Monaco
