Although the yachting industry and tourism sector are key factors in the Principality’s appeal, cruise ships are only welcomed with precautions in place to ensure adherence to the most stringent safety and environmental standards.

From April to November, cruise ships pull alongside the yachts in the Ports of Monaco or anchor close to the Principality. Staying true to its commitment to protect the atmospheric and marine environment, the Prince’s Government was keen to support the Monaco Port Authority (SEPM) in promoting a sustainable cruise policy.

By setting a maximum size limit for ships anchoring or coming into port, and a limit on the maximum passenger capacity on board and throughout the season, the Government is able to welcome cruise ships in a way that is consistent with Monaco’s image, quality of life and economic appeal.
