Understanding the process
An acquisition certificate is required for registering a means of transport which comes from the EEC.
To get the form you can either:
- Download it here :
- Or collect it from the Department of Tax Services
You must provide:
- Two copies of the following form “Certificat d’acquisition d’un moyen de transport en provenance de la CEE par un assujetti identifié”
- A photocopy from the Trade Registry
- The originals of the following documents:
- The invoice
- The European certificate of conformity
- The vehicle's registration proof
- The bill of sale or purchase invoice
- A European certificate of conformity
- The bill of sale or purchase invoice
- The certificate of deregistration (for used boats)
- The approval certificate
You must submit all the documents to the Department of Tax Services (intra-Community VAT Service).
The second copy of the certificate is kept by the intra-Community VAT service.
Once the originals returned to the owner, they have to be submitted to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office (for land transport vehicles), to the Department of Maritime Affairs (for boats) or to the Civil Aviation Authority (for aircrafts).
