Seeking accreditation for an IT system helps to raise awareness among all project stakeholders (management, finance, legal and HR teams, project owner, project manager, users), and to involve those with an interest in the system and standardise terminology. It is a genuine tool for negotiation and arbitration, supplying the required justifications for decision-making (accurate descriptions, strategic challenges, detailed risks and their impact on the organisation, clear security objectives and requirements).
