Statutory holidays
The statutory holidays in Monaco are:
- New Year's Day (1stJanuary)
- Saint Dévote's Day (27th January)
- Easter Monday
- The 1st of May
- Ascension
- Whit Monday
- Corpus Christi
- Assumption (15th August)
- All Saints' Day (1st November)
- The Prince's Day (19th November)
- The Immaculate Conception
- Christmas Day (25th December)
Specific Statutory Public Holidays
When the Reigning Prince's Day, New Year's Day, the first of May, Assumption days, All Saints' Day and Christmas Day fall on a Sunday, the following Monday will be a statutory public holiday.
Employment and Public Holidays
Public holidays are obligatory non-working days for all employees.
However, after consultation with staff representatives, or, failing this, with the employees concerned, exemptions may be requested from the Labour Inspector.
It is essential to attach the following documents to any request for an exemption from statutory public holidays:
- The opinion of the staff representatives, if the number of employees in your company justifies the presence of such representatives
Or - The opinion of the staff concerned, if the number of employees in your company does not justify the presence of staff representatives

When you attend your appointment, please bring the documents required to complete your procedure.
As an applicant on behalf of your company, you must submit any request made as a paper application to the Labour Inspectorate, giving the following information:
- The CAR number of your company
- The name of your company
- The registered name of your company
- The address of your company
- The phone number of your company
- The circumstances justifying the request
If you do not have staff representatives, please also specify the number of employees in your company.
You should send your request for an exemption from statutory public holidays, accompanied by the requested supporting documents, to the Labour Inspectorate (or by email inspectiondutravail@gouv.mc).
