If the condition of the vehicle does not comply with all the applicable technical provisions, the inspector will require a follow-up visit to be carried out; this must be undertaken before the new due date shown on the test report.
Understanding the process
At the end of the technical inspection, prior to a new registration or the use of an auxiliary luxury chauffeur-driven vehicle, a report is prepared and you will be given a copy you need to keep in your records.
If major faults are found, the owner of the vehicle has the following time limits to undertake the necessary repairs or adjustments and present the vehicle to the Vehicle Testing Centre:
- A maximum period of two months for any vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of 3.5 tonnes or less (M1, N1, O1 and O2)
- A maximum period of one month for any vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of 3.5 tonnes or more (M2, M3, N2, N3, O3, O4, T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5)
In the event of dangerous faults, the owner of the vehicle has a maximum of two weeks to undertake the necessary repairs or adjustments and present the vehicle to the Vehicle Testing Centre.

- Failure to notify non-attendance at least 24 hours before the date set

During the follow-up inspection, only the issues for which the new inspection was required will be rechecked.
At the end of the follow-up inspection, a report is drawn up and a copy, to be kept, is given to you. This mentions in particular the date of the control, the deficiencies noted, the result and the new due date.
If the deficiencies that were the subject of the check-up are resolved, the technical check-up is validated and a sticker specifying the next due date is stuck on the back of the registration certificate.
If faults are still noted with the issues serviced, a new follow-up inspection must be carried out within 15 days. The new expiration date is shown on the report and the registration certificate.
If the vehicle does not comply with the applicable technical provisions at the end of the second follow-up inspection, it will no longer be authorised for use on public roads until a new technical inspection has been conducted to verify that it's in good working order and satisfactorily maintained. The vehicle owner must pay a regularisation fee and request a new technical inspection appointment. The vehicle will be authorised for use on public roads between the owner's home or the repair site and the Vehicle Testing Centre only on the day of the technical inspection appointment, as stated on the relevant notice.
