Understanding the process
After completing the start-up procedures with the Business Development Agency, you will need to contact Monaco Statistics to obtain a Statistical Identification Number (NIS).
This registration will be requested for your procedures with other Administrative services and public bodies (Department of Tax Services, Department of Employment, Monaco Social Funds, Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office ... ) and also for:
- Obtaining a telephone line from Monaco Telecom
- Subscribing an electricity contract from SMEG
- Opening a bank account from a financial institution
- Collecting your registered post
To request your NIS certificate, you can contact Monaco Statistics using any means of communication. The certificate will be issued within five working days.
In the case of a non-trading company, you will be asked to provide the listed supporting documents.
- Photocopy of the Monaco identity card or the residence permit
- Medical and paramedical professions, legal professions: Photocopy of the publication in the "Journal de Monaco" of the Decree or Sovereign Ordinance or of the authorisation issued by the Director of the Business Development Agency authorising the practice of the profession in the Principality
Please note: In the case of a medical profession carried out on a one-off or occasional basis within a healthcare establishment based in the Principality, a copy of the authorisation issued by the Department of Health Affairs - Accounting professions, veterinary surgeons and architects: Photocopy of the publication in the "Journal de Monaco" of the Decree or Sovereign Ordinance authorising the practice of the profession in the Principality
- The entry on the Trade and Industry Registry
- Photocopy of ministerial authorisation to practise in the Principality.
- The entry on the Special Register for Commercial Agents
- Photocopy of the title deed for the trademark
- Photocopy of the Monaco Identity Card or the residence permit of the trademark owner, or the principal in the case of a licence agreement
- In the case of proxies:
- Photocopy of the Monaco Identity Card or the residence permit
- Photocopy of a general or special power granted by the trademark owner
- Copy of the certificate of registration issued by the Business Development Agency
- Photocopy of the identity card or the residence permit of the individual acting as the company’s legal representative
- In the case of an authorised representative: a copy of the general or specific authority authorising the representative to carry out the procedure, together with a photocopy of the representative’s national identity card or residence permit
- A photocopy of the Monaco identity card or the residence permit
- Photocopy of API (Professional Independent Artist) certification issued by the Department of Cultural Affairs
- Photocopy of the approval or of the receipt of declaration published in the official "Journal de Monaco"
- Photocopy of the national identity card or the residence permit of the organisation’s President
- Photocopy of the Monaco identity card or the residence permit
- Photocopy of AO (Occasional Artists) certification
- Photocopy of the National Identity Card or the residence permit of the natural person owner of the property or manager of the legal person owning the property
- Photocopy of the deed of ownership of the property(s) or notarized certificate of their property
- Photocopy of the rental agreement or rental agreeement projet, or failling that declaration of intent to rent
- Photocopy of the National Identity Card or the residence permit of the lessor (natural person or manager of the legal person)
- Photocopy of the rental agreement
- Photocopy of the owner’s authorisation
- Photocopy of the sublet rental agreement
- Photocopy of joint ownership arrangement registered with the Mortgage Service
- Photocopy of the power of attorney for the management of jointly owned property if the proxy is a professional (managing agent, etc.)
- The "declaration of registration for Statistical Identification Number" form, duly completed and signed
- Photocopy of the agreement delegating management or a copy of the management mandate
- The "declaration of registration for Statistical Identification Number" form, duly completed and signed
- Photocopy of the building management mandate granted by the owner to the proxy
